Founder & CEO
Wouter Christiaens (CEO) founded MicroTechniX in 2013. With degrees in Naval Engineering, Software Engineering, System Analysis, and Sales Management, he combines technical depth with commercial experience. Before founding Microtechnix, Wouter spent over 20 years at Carl Zeiss Micro Imaging Belgium in development, sales, and support roles. He is passionate about creating practical solutions that integrate imaging and automation to solve real challenges in regulated lab environments.
Director of Sales
Niek Van Overberghe (Director of Sales) joined Microtechnix in 2024 to lead the market introduction of EMMA, a revolutionary device for microbial environmental monitoring. Niek combines degrees in Bio Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Business Administration and Sales Leadership with more than 10 years of experience in sales, leading the effective salesforce and general business administration at various companies, including MOLECUBES, Merck and Sigma-Aldrich.
Service manager
David Turco (Service Manager) joined Microtechnix in 2021 with a mission to deliver robust and compliant solutions that support the evolution of pharmaceutical microbiology, David ensures that EMMA systems are implemented and maintained to the highest standards. As Service Manager, he is responsible for overseeing system installation, qualification, and long-term performance in GMP-regulated environments. Prior to joining Microtechnix, David held various roles within the automation and imaging team at GSK Belgium, where he developed extensive experience in supporting critical systems within pharmaceutical operations.
Operations Manager
Arthur Mestdagh (Operations Manager) joined Microtechnix in 2024, bringing with him a background in architecture and a degree as a civil engineer-architect. With a strong foundation in precision, structural integrity, and quality standards, Arthur ensures that all EMMA instruments are manufactured in line with our technical and regulatory requirements. He is responsible for overseeing manufacturing operations and quality control, ensuring that each system delivered meets the expectations of our customers and the demands of GMP environments.
Software & AI specialist
Helder Opdebeeck (Software & AI specialist) joined Microtechnix in 2025 as a Software & AI Specialist, combining a strong scientific background with a passion for practical innovation. He holds degrees in biotechnology and bioinformatics, and pursued a PhD focused on informatics and artificial intelligence. Before transitioning to a technical role, Helder gained experience in sales and business development across the life sciences sector. His move to the engineering side reflects a clear ambition: to contribute directly to the development of solutions that bring measurable value to customers. At Microtechnix, Helder plays a key role in the design, development, and validation of the AI systems that power EMMA.
Field Service Engineer
Yvan Turco (Field Service Engineer) joined Microtechnix in 2022 as a Field Service Engineer, bringing with him a strong technical background and a commitment to delivering high-quality service. With prior experience in national field roles across Belgium, Yvan has developed a deep understanding of customer support, system maintenance, and technical troubleshooting in regulated environments. At Microtechnix, he has taken his expertise to the international level, supporting the global rollout of the EMMA platform. Known for his reliability and precision, Yvan shares the team’s dedication to quality—and when not in the field, he enjoys exploring his passion for fine Italian wine.
