Production engineer

At Microtechnix, we are shaping the future of pharmaceutical microbiology QC. By focusing on high-end imaging systems, automation and the implementation of the latest AI innovations, we contribute to improving the reproducibility of pharmaceutical quality control processes. We have a global installed base and are developing solutions to address the challenges of tomorrow. We strongly believe that digitization in combination with vision AI can have a significant and positive impact on tomorrow’s QC processes.

We are looking for a Production Engineer who thrives on delivering high-quality, ready-to-deploy systems. In this role, you will be responsible for configuring EMMA systems based on customer orders, ensuring every system leaves our facility fully prepared for seamless plug-and-play installation at the customer site.

As part of a dynamic scale-up team, you will act as a key bridge between production, application, and AI/software—making sure both hardware and AI performance meet our standards before shipment. If you enjoy hands-on work, ownership, and making sure things simply work, we’d love to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Configure EMMA systems according to customer-specific requirements
  • Execute factory acceptance tests (FAT) following standardized procedures to ensure system quality and performance
  • Prepare, package, and release systems for shipment, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Act as the final quality gate before systems are deployed to customers
  • Collaborate with Application Specialists and AI/Software Engineers to evaluate system and model performance
  • Perform imaging and validation runs to assess AI model accuracy and consistency
  • Trigger and support AI model fine-tuning when performance criteria are not met
  • Ensure systems are delivered in a “plug-and-play” state, enabling smooth installation by service engineers onsite
  • Identify and resolve integration issues early in the configuration phase
  • Continuously improve production, testing, and validation workflows
  • Contribute to continuous product improvement by providing structured feedback from production and testing
  • Occasionally travel onsite to support installation or validation of system improvements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related field
  • Hands-on mindset with strong affinity for hardware/software systems
  • Structured and detail-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and quality
  • Comfortable working across disciplines (mechanical, software, AI, application)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot system-level issues
  • Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a small, fast-paced team
  • Experience with laboratory systems, automation, or imaging is a plus
  • Interest in AI-driven applications and data validation is a strong advantage
  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus
  • Based within reasonable distance of Microtechnix HQ

Offer

  • Full-time contract with competitive salary and benefits
  • Flexible working hours with attention to work-life balance
  • Opportunity to work in a fast-growing, high-impact scale-up
  • A hands-on role where your work directly enables successful customer deployments
  • A chance to work with hardware, software, AI & making a Belgian innovation a global standard
