Endpoint testing is the standard approach for Growth Promotion Tests (GPT) because it efficiently confirms whether a culture medium is suitable for its intended use without needing more complex and time-consuming kinetic analysis. Endpoint tests are preferred for their straightforward methodology and compliance with pharmacopeial guidelines, which specify expected outcomes after a defined incubation period. The GPT test is designed to verify that the culture media effectively supports the growth of a predefined small number of microorganisms (typically ≤100 CFU). The growth observed on the test media should be comparable to that on a previously validated batch of media, ensuring consistency and reliability. EMMA allows to digitize, standardize & automate GPT testing, and as such increasing reproducibility and accuracy of the results over long period of time.
